It’s been a year to remember for Bombora, producing more webinars and live streams than ever before. The team have worked tirelessly from their own studio in Clerkenwell, as well as taking their expertise on location all over the UK, as far as Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin and over the Channel to Paris. They have been producing weekly masterclasses for Thomson Reuters, filming live conference events for CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), streaming five-hour webinars for IVS, going out on location for Linklaters, producing study clubs for ADI (Association of Dental Implantology), and working on live webinars for B&CE and The Health Foundation.
The year kicked off to a great start with a whole new look; Bombora had a brand makeover and celebrated in style with the launch of its stunning new website. Check out the impressive showreel here showcasing their achievements to date.
The highs continued with the team taking on one of their most successful projects of the year. Working with sister company, Hub, they produced a new pilot show for AliExpress, the Chinese equivalent of Amazon. With their biggest user base coming from China and Russia, the goal was to break into the US and UK markets by running an Easter weekend extravaganza. The one-hour programme was a live giveaway show featuring some of the best sellers from the AliExpress platform. Bombora were involved from the concept discussions to the format development, and was on hand at all times for their technical and streaming expertise. Alongside the pilot, the team also produced five short films to introduce each seller. With a mountain of toys to promote, they enlisted the help of an army of children. And considering the chaos that ensued (think continuous bubble blowing and a musical cacophony that only six-year-olds can create), they had a surprisingly successful shoot. The live show was then streamed to the UK and US, giving a potential reach of over 1 million users through AliExpress’s platform and their app homepage alone. The results exceeded expectations; the number of viewers calling in to win prizes was staggering. AliExpress said it was their most successful show to date. And the team said it was worth the 4.30 am start! Watch the show and read the case study here
Another highlight was a 5-hour continuous webinar stream for IVS. With around 15-21 speakers, there was just three minutes turnaround time between each one to switch microphones, touch up make-up, refill glasses and apply the correct lower thirds; timing was key. Bombora’s experience and meticulous attention to detail meant that they pulled this off yet again. One of their most loyal clients, it was the 35th webinar for IVS that Bombora has produced. Each one has been 3-5 hours lon,g and the summer webinar, filmed on a sweltering Monday in 30°c heat without air con, was particularly memorable – well done troopers! It later featured in a news article in Professional Adviser.
Aside from the production news, there have also been changes for the team; Chengwang, studio operator, joined Amarat, producer; James, studio manager; Oliver, studio operator; and David, CEO. Plus, they moved – well, into the office next door! Bombora merged offices with some of the team in the Hub. Still based in Clerkenwell Studios, they are now in unit 509 and are loving their new home. But they didn’t stop there – even the studio and the client lounge got makeovers this year. And rest assured, the moving and decorating didn’t stop their production schedule; in just one week, Ollie and James were up in Scotland twice, working long hours to successfully complete and stream two back-to-back webinars. Then it was off to Paris (again!) for Amarat and James to produce another live webinar.
Not content with their own busy schedule, Bombora have also stepped in and helped Hub with projects such as Sub35 (broadcasting a live webinar from the London Stock Exchange), Steps to Investing (starring their very own Amarat), Art of Wow, The Session (now on its 9th episode!) and various podcast recordings. It’s been an amazing year that ended with the team receiving a well-deserved Silver award at the prestigious EVCOM Industry Awards 2018 for the Best Live Video for their work on the live show for AliExpress.
