  • How Video Can Improve Learning & Development

And this transformation is increasingly being characterised by webinars and video based learning, as more and more organisations find these formats highly effective in disseminating knowledge and developing their people.

In this exclusive webinar, bombora.tv explore just how video can improve learning & development, providing viewers with interesting insights into webinars and video based learning. The webinar is chaired by David Hunstone, MD, bombora.tv, with contributions from Andy Jones, Head of Professional Learning Services at Thomson Reuters, and Jon Harman, Learning & Media Director, University of Law.

If the early digital revolution in learning was driven by the advent of open and accessible online platforms, then the next phase is about the content that fuels those platforms. And in this brave new world, it is video that is reshaping the teaching and learning experience.

Traditional film production values and processes are being embedded into learning design, to signal a departure from the accepted lecture and classroom experience. Use of video and animation by educators is allowing them to deliver more engaging and immersive lessons. The rise of Moocs, especially since 2012, presents enormous potential to harness the power of video to teach; and in a corporate environment, e-learning providers have already built a legacy of personnel who have developed their professional skills through video based learning.

But alongside these opportunities come challenges. Video production requires a different set of skills, from storyboarding and scripting to the technical aspects of filming, editing and broadcast. That challenge is heightened when, as is popular to do, video assumes just a section of the lesson, alongside more traditional teaching formats. And what of user generated content; where does the balance lie between accessible and affordable content generation, and quality?

In this exclusive webinar, we have two of the leading voices on this subject. Providing us with the insight from the university sector, Jon Harman draws on his personal experiences of developing and rolling out new video based learning content for the University of Law. And taking the corporate angle, Andy Jones explains how Thomson Reuters are helping businesses to use video in the right way to achieve their learning objectives.
